1/17/2024 0 Comments Tipsy bartender wifeSo I’d argue finding meaning in doing something right/well isn’t being to serious at all, it’s doing my job and doing it well. These are ways I create meaningful relationships with what I do. Which is why I would never tell someone they ordered a stupid drink but instead make a recommendation of something else they could try. So if I take myself too seriously, I promise it’s in the benefit of my guests. People who say all we do is serve drinks don’t see the opportunities we have in our industry to educate people on different liquors or offer an experience beyond just bringing someone a drink. I have no idea how you carry yourself so I can’t speak to that directly about you, it’s just something I’ve noticed overall. I’m other words they aren’t inspired to better themselves. But in my experience most people who say others take bartending too seriously are the ones who aren’t as good of bartenders or are only using it for a temporary gig. I like to think of myself as a professional, you can think of yourself however you want. Bartending can be a means to an end but it can also be a profession. Also, if you want to say I’m too serious I’d argue your not serious enough (but I would never say that about someone else). It seems you have all the answers so this discussion is pointless. Also I never said I didn’t like where I work. I think you missed the main points I’m making. If people get ideas for fun drinks for their private parties, cool, but I don’t see how anyone could use their drinks in an actual business. Lastly, none of the drinks are practical and take way too many steps for an actual bar. Third, they only use blue curaçao and clear liquors and I question whether the liquor is just water. I watched one earlier where he poured an unknown amount of “vodka” and then added a little splash I guess for good measure while spilling some on the table. Second, they spill and are generally kind of sloppy with the presentation. As for measuring, I’ve definitely seen them pour wayyyy too much “rum” for one drink several times.
